On Saturday, June 24, Chum held its annual Rhubarb Festival at Stella Maris Academy’s Holy Rosary Campus. Hundreds of local people of faith turned rhubarb into lemonade, brats, burritos, juice, jelly, scones, pies, crisps and ice cream, which was converted to food, shelter, dignity and hope. This is Chum’s largest annual fundraiser and benefits the Steve O’Neil Apartments for families with children, food shelf, street outreach, family shelter, congregate shelter and St. Francis Apartments. People walked around with smiles on their faces and treats in their bags, all for the purpose of caring for the poor.
