Just in time to celebrate Our Lady’s Assumption, Mariana (“Ana”) Beier has released a second book of spiritual poetry, “Light From Light.” As in her earlier book, called “Like the Dewfall,” the poems in this book are reflections from moments of prayer, which Beier calls “the soul’s love language.” Her hope in publishing the books is that they will speak a word of God’s love to the reader and draw other souls into an ever-deeper relationship with him. The books are available on Amazon for $7.99 each, with proceeds going to local charitable organizations.

Father Scott Padrnos |
Our Lady of the Lakes Magnificat invites both men and women to a breakfast Saturday, Sept. 30, at St. Agnes Parish in Walker to meet Father Scott Padrnos, parochial vicar at St. Francis Parish in Brainerd. Father Padrnos grew up on the edge of Brainerd and Nisswa. His parents, Dan and Sue, owned and operated a small resort on Gull Lake. Father Padrnos and his four brothers and sisters grew up working there. After graduating from Brainerd High School in 2008, he went to St. John’s in Collegeville for his undergraduate studies. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and returned to the resort in 2012. After a brief stint at Aerotech as a recruiter for businesses in the St. Cloud area, Father Padrnos returned home with plans to remain at the resort. However, the Lord had other plans. After an encounter with the living God, the desire to become a priest continued to grow. A few months later, he started the application process for seminary. He was ordained June 24, 2022, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary in Duluth.
In Father Padrnos’ words, “I have fallen in love with Jesus Christ and desire to spread that fire of His love to everyone I encounter!” All are invited to attend this breakfast and be touched by the love of Jesus through Father Scott.
St. Agnes Parish is located at 210 Division Street in Walker. Breakfast will be served at 9 a.m., followed by Father Scott’s testimony. The cost of the meal is $20.
