Bishop Daniel Felton, in a letter accompanying the appeal, highlights the needs the funds it raises meet: “Your gift is absolutely necessary for me to cover the costs of room and board for our seminarians; formation, books, materials and study days for our deacons; and health care premiums, retiree nursing care and retreat costs for our retired priests; and so much more,” he wrote. “Our diocese has been blessed with many men in service — 11 seminarians in formation, 61 deacons, 23 deacons in training (7 in formation, 16 in Aspirancy), and 19 retired priests who all want to serve you and draw you closer to Jesus Christ. All of them have devoted their lives to ministry and deserve our ongoing care and support through this Appeal. I know that the faithful of the Diocese of Duluth love and care for our seminarians, retired priests, and deacons.”
