The Diocesan Review Board is confidential consultative body to the diocesan bishop composed of at least five members of outstanding integrity and good judgment. The majority of the board members are lay persons who are not in the employ of the diocese. At least one member must be a priest, at least one member must be a lawyer or other person experienced in legal matters or law enforcement, and at least one member must have particular expertise in the area of sexual abuse or exploitation of minors and others. Members are appointed for a five-year term, which can be renewed. Currently, the Review Board is comprised of 10 individuals who bring experience in social work, psychology, education, law, law enforcement, and medicine.

The Review Board’s mission and composition are guided by the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops and by the Sexual Misconduct Policy Book and Code of Pastoral Conduct of the Diocese of Duluth.
