Hark! The herald angels sing: Glory to our newborn King! At the center of the living word of God given to us in the Advent and Christmas gospels is the kerygmatic proclamation that Jesus, the Son of God, lovingly is sent into this world by God the Father, that we might believe in Him and through Him have everlasting life … and the healing, hope, and joy that we can only find in Jesus.
As the Christmas scripture stories are proclaimed from Christmas Day through the Feast of the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple on Feb. 2, there will be countless encounters with the newborn King that change and transform the lives of those who seek him, including Mary, Joseph, the angels, the shepherds, the three wise men, and yes, even the ox knows its master and the donkey its master’s manger (Isaiah 1:3).
Through this encounter with the newborn King, and the accompanying conversion and transformation because of that encounter, we pray that all of us who have been impacted deeply by the healing, hope, and joy of the newborn King, will go back to our families, parishes, and communities where we live to join the chorus of angels in proclaiming, Hark! The herald of disciples sings: Glory to our newborn King.
May the healing, hope, and joy of the Christmas Christ come upon you and remain with you and your loved ones forever.
Merry Christmas,
