Assumption Catholic School in Hibbing announced last month that it will be adding seventh and eighth grade classes to begin the 2024-25 school year this fall.
Officials say the move will allow the school to offer families in the area personalized attention with small class sizes and in-person instruction; formation of confidence, character, and skills to become effective leaders; a family environment, in which parents are welcome and involved in the school; and a Christ-centered vision, anchored in a worldview that gives wisdom, peace, and purpose, at an age students begin to wrestle more seriously with issues of faith and the purpose of life.
Grades 6-8 will rotate teachers for different subject areas, and the school will hire staff for the middle school program. This winter, with help from a generous grant from the Owens Foundation, the school’s upstairs classroom wing will receive improved ventilation and bathrooms, and a classroom will be renovated to serve as a science lab for all grades.
The school is examining options for curriculum in various fields of study and has a team with experts in each field who will help us develop detailed curriculum.
Tuition, fees, and the registration process will be the same as for students in kindergarten through sixth grade. Tuition assistance and scholarships are available, as well. Assumption welcomes students, Catholic and non-Catholic, to join at any time in their PreK-8 educational journeys.
