Mass on TV
The Diocese of Duluth sponsors a televised Mass at 9:30 a.m. every Sunday from the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., on WDIO-Duluth and WIRT-Hibbing. Rummage sale
Holy Family Church, 2430 W. Third St, Duluth, will host its annual rummage sale on Friday, Aug. 4, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday, Aug. 5, from 8 a.m. to noon. Saturday is a bag sale day, fill a bag for only $2. For more information, call the parish office at (218) 722-4445.
Corn roast
The Star of the North Maternity Home will host a fundraiser corn roast Saturday, Aug. 5, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the St. James Church parking lot, 715 N. 57th Ave. W., Duluth. The evening will feature corn and brats, beverages, and live music. Bring your own lawn chairs. In case of inclement weather, the event will take place in the gym. Retreats
Christ the King Retreat Center in Buffalo will host a silent retreat for both men and women Aug. 4-6 and silent women’s retreats Sept. 8-10, Sept. 19-21, and Sept. 26-28. They will host a silent men’s retreat Sept. 22-24 and a serenity (12-step) retreat for both men and women Sept. 29 to Oct. 1. They will also be starting monthly “Wine and the Word” evenings. Ice cream social
All are invited to an ice cream social fundraiser at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 325 E. Third St., Duluth, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 13. Come to the social hall to create a delicious sundae with vanilla, chocolate, or strawberry ice cream, topped with caramel, chocolate, hot fudge, whipped cream, and other goodies, even sprinkles! A free will offering is requested to help pay for the church’s stained-glass window repairs. Handicapped accessible and lots of parking available.
Bible and a beer
Meet at the Streetcar Kitchen and Pub, 232 Chestnut Ave., Carlton, for a meal and a drink (pay for your own off the menu), and a presentation on the faith Thursday, Aug. 17. Veneration of Padre Pio Relics
St. Francis of Assisi Church, 404 N. Ninth St., Brainerd, and the Spiritus Sanctus Secular Franciscan Fraternity are hosting the Veneration of Padre Pio relics on Thursday, Aug. 24, from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m., with Mass at 5:30 p.m. Devotional items will be available. Please bring a nonperishable item for the food shelf. The Padre Pio Foundation of America was established in 1977 to promote devotion to Padre Pio and continue his legacy of love and caring for those less fortunate. The foundation’s goal is to spread devotion to our beloved Padre Pio by spreading his teachings and spirituality; keeping Pietrelcina a holy place of remembrance and preserving places near and dear to Padre Pio; aiding in priestly vocations, participating, and promoting corporal and spiritual works of mercy in remembrance of Padre Pio. Visio divina
The Center for Spirituality and Enrichment at St. Scholastica Monastery will host an evening of contemplative prayer through the use of images, music, and sacred writings via Zoom on Thursday, Aug. 31, at 7 p.m. No prior experience is needed. Theology Uncapped
Theology Uncapped presents a series of theological discussions reviewing both the Catholic and Greek Orthodox perspective. The next event will be Thursday, Sept. 14, at 6 p.m. and will feature Father Nick Nelson and Father Dustin Lyon discussing the topic “Why Aren’t We One? Grief group
Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary, 2801 E. Fourth St., Duluth, will be offering a five-week educational/support grief group for any adult who has experienced the death of a loved one. The group will meet for five consecutive Tuesdays, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., beginning Oct. 3, and continuing Oct. 10, Oct. 17, Oct. 24, and Oct. 31. Prison ministry workshop

Adoration and Divine Mercy Chaplet
Every Friday, immediately after the noon Mass at St. Mary Star of the Sea, 325 E. Third St., Duluth, there is exposition of the Blessed Sacrament with adoration until 3 p.m. At 3 p.m. the Chaplet of Divine Mercy is recited, followed by Benediction.

Proclaimers of Christ Catholic charismatic prayer group meets the second Thursday of the month at St. Agnes Church, Elm at Division Street, Walker. Public square rosary
Our Lady of Fatima, Garrison, and Holy Family, Bulldog Lake, hold a public square rosary the fourth Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m. near the big walleye fish at the lookout on Mille Lacs Lake in Garrison (Highway 169). All are invited to join in prayer. The rosary is prayed for the intentions of our Blessed Mother, the conversion of sinners, and to reconcile ourselves, our families, and our nation back to God.
