Mass on TV 

The Diocese of Duluth sponsors a televised Mass at 9:30 a.m. every Sunday from the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., on WDIO-Duluth and WIRT-Hibbing. Women’s Mornings of Reflections 

The Handmaids of the Heart of Jesus will be hosting women’s Mornings of Reflection Saturdays, Sept. 9, Sept. 30, Nov. 4, and Dec. 2, from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary, 2801 E. Fourth St., Duluth. The mornings will begin with Mass at 8 a.m. and will include breakfast, talk, small group discussion, Eucharistic Adoration, and time for confession. Book and puzzle sale 

St. Teresa’s Circle of St. Raphael’s Catholic Church, 5779 Seville Road, Duluth, will hold a book and puzzle sale on Friday, Sept. 8, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 9, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be fiction and nonfiction books for all ages, puzzles, DVDs, CDs, and audio tapes. Retreats 

Christ the King Retreat Center in Buffalo will host silent women’s retreats Sept. 8-10, Sept. 19-21, and Sept. 26-28. They will host a silent men’s retreat Sept. 22-24 and a serenity (12-step) retreat for both men and women Sept. 29 to Oct. 1. They will also be starting monthly “Wine and the Word” evenings. Theology Uncapped 

Theology Uncapped presents a series of theological discussions reviewing both the Catholic and Greek Orthodox perspective. The next event will be Thursday, Sept. 14, at 6 p.m. and will feature Father Nick Nelson and Father Dustin Lyon discussing the topic “Why Aren’t We One? The Papacy and the Patriarchs.” The event will be held at St. Benedict Church, 1419 St. Benedict St., Duluth. The cost is $30, which includes dinner and a drink. Friends of the Poor walk 

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is hosting its annual Friends of the Poor walk Saturday, Sept. 15. Registration is at the St. Francis School parking lot, 817 Juniper St., Brainerd, between 8:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. Bring your pets and enjoy a walk around Gregory Park. Sponsorships or donations may also be sent to St. Vincent de Paul, P.O. Box 394, Merrifield, MN 56465. All funds will be used to serve the needy and poor in the Brainerd Lakes area. 

Fall festival 

Holy Family Church, 2430 W. Third St., Duluth, will be hosting its fall festival Saturday, Sept. 23, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be pasties, games, fresh garden vegetables, a silent auction, crafts, a patty melt lunch, and more! 40 Days for Life kickoff 

40 Days for Life will hold its kickoff event Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 6 p.m., beginning with Mass celebrated by Bishop Felton at the Women’s Care Center, 103 E. First St., Duluth, followed by light refreshments. At 7 p.m., the event continues with a praise and worship service outside, across from the Building for Women. Visio Divina 

The Center for Spirituality and Enrichment at St. Scholastica Monastery will host an evening of contemplative prayer through the use of images, music, and sacred writings via Zoom on Thursday, Sept. 28, at 7 p.m. No prior experience is needed. Open house 

The Center for Spirituality and Enrichment at the St. Scholastica Monastery, 1001 Kenwood Ave., Duluth, is holding an open house event on Saturday, Sept. 30, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Please come for wine and cheese, music, and conversation with friends in the Garden Court of the Sisters of St. Scholastica, as well as tours for those who are not familiar with the beautiful spaces! Spaghetti dinner 

All are invited to enjoy a spaghetti dinner at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 325 E. Third St., Duluth on Saturday, Sept. 30, from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The dinner will feature spaghetti in meat sauce, salad, breadsticks, dessert, and beverage. Gluten-free and vegetarian options are available, as well as take-out. Children ages ten through adults are $12, children ages six to nine are $6, and children under six are free. The social hall is accessible for wheelchairs up to 33 inches wide, and there is plenty of parking. 

Grief group 

The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary, 2801 E. Fourth St., Duluth, will be offering a five-week educational/support grief group for any adult who has experienced the death of a loved one. The group will meet for five consecutive Tuesdays, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., beginning Oct. 3, and continuing Oct. 10, Oct. 17, Oct. 24, and Oct. 31. The group will meet in the cathedral social hall for the first meeting, and the remainder of the meetings will be in the multi-purpose room. To register for the group, please contact Bridget A. Fall market 

St. Mary Star of the Sea, 325 E. Third St., Duluth, is looking for local crafters and vendors who would like to rent a table at its fall market, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 21. Cost of the table is $20. If you are interested or have questions, contact Kayline at (218) 727-7717. 

Donut Sunday 

St. Isidore’s Council of Catholic Women will be hosting Donut Sundays at St. Isidore Church, 9010 Main Street, Sturgeon Lake, on Sept. 30, Oct. 29, and Nov. 26 after 8:30 a.m. Sunday Mass. All are welcome for donuts, beverages, and fellowship. Free will offering appreciated but not necessary. 

Fall festival 

Blessed Sacrament Church, 2310 Seventh Ave. E., Hibbing, is holding its fall festival Saturday, Oct. 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Join them for delicious homemade bakery and deli items like antipasto and Sarma balls, beautiful handmade crafts, bountiful raffle items, kids’ games, cookies and candy by the pound, and more. Lunch will be a choice of cold deli sandwiches with wild rice soup or sloppy joes, hot and cold beverages to choose from, and delicious homemade pies by the slice. Live music with Cowboy Angel Blue from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Enter the grand raffle with $5,000 cash prizes awarded the day of the festival. Everyone welcome! 

Prison ministry workshop 

Twin Cities Prison Ministry and Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 8260 Fourth St. N., Oakdale, will be hosting a prison ministry workshop on Saturday, Oct. 7, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Discover how you can “visit” insiders from your home and learn more about inside the prison wall opportunities and about outside programs that work with returning citizens. Fall festival 

Queen of Peace Church, 102 Fourth St., Cloquet, will be hosting its fall festival Oct. 14-15. On Saturday, Oct. 14, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., there will be a kids’ zone with inflatables, cash, and small items raffle, lunch in the cafeteria, food trucks, and a marketplace. Sunday, Oct. 15, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., will feature a pancake breakfast followed by bingo. 

Public square rosary rally 

A public square rosary rally, sponsored by America Needs Fatima, will take place in Duluth on Saturday, Oct. 14, at noon at the southwest corner of Sixth Avenue East and Fourth Street. This event will be one of over 20,000 rallies that will take place across the United States on this same day. Please join in the hour-long prayer rally to offer reparation for the sins and offenses committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary and to fervently pray for the conversion of the United States. Chicken dinner and bake sale 

St. Rose Church, 2 Sixth Ave., Proctor, will hold a chicken dinner and bake sale on Sunday, Oct. 15, from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The menu includes a choice of white or dark meat chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans, coleslaw, rolls, cranberry sauce, and banana cream pie for dessert. Adults are $12, children under 12 are $6, and children under five are free. Dine-in or take-out available. There will also be a bake sale and basket raffles. St. Rose is handicapped accessible. Fall bazaar 

Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 227 Third St., Two Harbors, will hold its fall bazaar Saturday, Oct. 14, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will feature local vendors, crafts, pasties, and a bake sale. St. Vincent de Paul Society 

The St. Vincent de Paul Society meets at 6 p.m. on the first and third Thursday of the month at Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary, 2801 E. Fourth St., Duluth, in the multipurpose room. Carmelite community 

A third order Carmelite community meets monthly at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 315 S.W. 21st St., Grand Rapids. Meetings are held the first Saturday of each month. Rosary at 8:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 9 a.m., and morning prayer. Communion and Liberation 

The Communion and Liberation School of Community meets every Sunday evening at 5:45 p.m. at St. Benedict Church, 1419 St. Benedict St., Duluth. Living in God’s Divine Will 

A new introductory study group is starting in Duluth every Thursday after the noon Mass at St. Mary Star of the Sea, 325 E. Third St., Duluth. Adoration and Divine Mercy Chaplet 

Every Friday, immediately after the noon Mass at St. Mary Star of the Sea, 325 E. Third St., Duluth, there is exposition of the Blessed Sacrament with adoration until 3 p.m. At 3 p.m. the Chaplet of Divine Mercy is recited, followed by Benediction. 

Grief support 

A grief support group meets the first and third Thursday of the month from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Immaculate Heart Church, 35208 County Road 37, Crosslake, in a lower level classroom. For more information, call Jean at (218) 839-1958. 

Prayer group

Carmelite community

Charismatic prayer group 

Proclaimers of Christ Catholic charismatic prayer group meets the second Thursday of the month at St. Agnes Church, Elm at Division Street, Walker. Father Solanus Casey Fraternity 

The Father Solanus Casey Fraternity of the Secular Franciscan Order meets the third Sunday of each month at 12:30 p.m. at Holy Family Church, 2430 W. Third St., Duluth. Secular Franciscans are lay Catholics and diocesan priests who commit themselves to living lives of simplicity, prayer, peacemaking, and service to the church and others, especially the poor. Secular Franciscan Order 

The Spiritus Sanctus Fraternity of the Secular Franciscan Order meets the fourth Thursday of each month at St. Francis Church, 411 N. Tenth St., Brainerd. Public square rosary 

Our Lady of Fatima, Garrison, and Holy Family, Bulldog Lake, hold a public square rosary the fourth Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m. near the big walleye fish at the lookout on Mille Lacs Lake in Garrison (Highway 169). All are invited to join in prayer. The rosary is prayed for the intentions of our Blessed Mother, the conversion of sinners, and to reconcile ourselves, our families, and our nation back to God. Log church tours 

Tours are offered of the old log church at Sts. Mary and Joseph Church in Sawyer. The log church is on the National Register of Historic Sites. Narrated tours are led by Deacon Bryan Bassa. Courage/EnCourage
